Bio

Gretchen Shay, MSW, LICSW, LCSW, CADC, CCTP graduated from the Illinois State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1999, she taught 6th grade English and Social Studies for four years. She obtained a Masters in Social Work degree in 2007 from Loyola University Chicago. She has worked in medical social work, pediatric and adult oncology and adult nephrology. She has also done interventions for individuals struggling with a variety of addiction issues. She has most recently worked in a medical setting, helping adults with chronic illness deal with coping and quality of life issues. She has also been working with BetterHelp working with adolescents and adults. Gretchen is often found spending time with her three daughters, working out, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Gretchen uses an integrative therapeutic approach as well as family systems therapy to meet the needs of individuals and families. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, client-centered, and strengths-based techniques with an emphasis on mindfulness. Gretchen is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and works with individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, ADHD, stress, self-esteem issues, couples therapy, grief, and chronic illness/quality of life issues.

Gretchen is often found spending time with her three daughters, working out, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
