Dr. Carroll obtained her master’s and doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is board certified by The American Board of Professional Psychology in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Carroll has been a professor of psychology for over twenty-five years. She has authored a textbook, over 40 professional articles, and book chapters and presented over 50 papers and posters on diverse topics at national and international professional conferences. In addition to teaching and serving as a clinical supervisor, Dr. Carroll has practiced as a psychologist in Florida and Maryland and as a counselor in community agencies and university settings in Pennsylvania and elsewhere. In her clinical work, Dr. Carroll employs principles from theories that emphasize the role of early attachment experiences. However, she uses a broad range of therapy techniques, including cognitive-behavioral strategies depending upon clients’ needs and current research evidence. Dr. Carroll is interested in working with adults, the elderly, and LGBT persons who are experiencing depression, anxiety, relational, and life adjustment issues.
